What are the Differences between Human Hair Wigs and Synthetic Hair Wigs?
When you enter a store or hair salon that sells wigs, you may not be able to tell the difference between the human hair wigs and hairpieces and the synthetic ones on display. The reason is at first, they look very similar. It isn’t until you take a closer inspection and get information from a hair loss expert that the differences become more evident. Human hair wigs and synthetic hair wigs both have their advantages. Of course, the particular needs of the client are also an important factor when selecting a wig.
Human Hair
There are four types of Human Hair:
• Chinese
• Indonesian
• Indian
• European/Caucasian
Human hair is usually more expensive because it gives you the natural look of softness, shine, and natural movement that you would expect from real hair. It also has the ability to be cut, styled, and colored. Human hair wigs and hair pieces don’t have the natural oils that the hair growing from our scalp does, so it is important to use the proper products to keep the hair hydrated and conditioned. This should be done daily to extend the life of your human hair wigs or hair piece.
Synthetic Hair
The fibers built into the synthetic hair can preserve the curls, waves, and hair volume of a wig or hair piece. You cannot color the hair and it can’t be restyled easily. With synthetic hair, it is imperative that you follow the instructions to care for it so you can extend the life of your wig or hairpiece.
What it really boils down to is what can you afford, what type of styling you want to be able to do, whether you want to be able to have it cut and change the color. Because of the versatility of 100% natural human hair wigs, it will require more time to have it styled, cut or colored, whereas synthetic hair can be worn right away.
